Top 10 Game Asset Marketplaces: Which Delivers the Best ROI? (2026 Guide)

Summary: We scored the 10 best game asset marketplaces of 2026 on quality, pricing, licensing and developer support. Here’s which platforms are actually worth your money.

Buying assets saves time. But the wrong store, the wrong license or an overpriced pack can wipe out those savings fast. So I scored the 10 most popular marketplaces of 2026 on four criteria: quality (30%), pricing (25%), licensing flexibility (25%) and support (20%).

Quick Comparison

1. Fab: 8.6

Fab is Epic’s unified marketplace. It replaced the Unreal Marketplace, Quixel, Sketchfab’s commercial store and ArtStation, and it now hosts more than 420,000 listings (StraySpark).

  • Why it’s #1: If your team earned under $100K in the last 12 months, you can buy at the cheaper “Personal” tier (Epic Docs). New free content also drops every two weeks (Unreal Forums).
  • Watch out: 68% of listings have no reviews at all (Mythic Lemon). Always check the demo and documentation before you buy.

2. Kenney: 7.8

Every asset is CC0, which means it’s free and needs no attribution (Kenney). For prototyping, it’s hard to beat that ROI. The only downside is that the art style is too simple for most final products.

3. Synty Store: 7.6

Synty offers a huge library in one consistent style. The SyntyPass subscription unlocks every pack (Synty).

  • Watch out: With a subscription, you can only use the assets for development while your plan is active (Synty).

4. Unity Asset Store: 7.1

The store lists more than 13,000 top-rated assets (Unity), and all of them plug straight into the editor. If you work in Unity, this is effectively your first stop.

  • Watch out: “Extension” assets are licensed per seat (Unity Legal). On larger teams, that adds up quickly.

5. Superhive: 7.0

Superhive is the former Blender Market. It hosts 70,300 products and has paid creators more than $52M (Superhive). Its real strength is add-ons; engine-ready game assets are relatively scarce.

6. itch.io: 6.8

itch.io is one of the cheapest places for 2D and pixel art. Sellers even choose the platform’s cut themselves (itch.io).

  • Watch out: Curation is weak and license terms vary from pack to pack. Always read the license before you buy.

7. GameDev Market: 6.8

It offers a clear Pro Licence built specifically for game development, so you can use assets in commercial games without restrictions (GameDev Market). The downside is a small catalog.

8. CGTrader: 6.3

The catalog is huge, but game optimization varies from listing to listing. After seller payout rates were cut on September 15, 2026, some sellers said they plan to raise prices (CGTrader).

9. TurboSquid: 6.1

Technical quality is high, and so are the prices. Editorial-licensed models can’t be upgraded to a commercial license (TurboSquid). Always check this restriction before using real-world brands or vehicles.

10. Roblox Creator Store: 6.0

It’s built right into Studio, and models are priced between $2.99 and $49.99 (Roblox). The catch is that the assets are only useful inside Roblox.

Watchlist

  • Sketchfab: The store has closed and sales moved to Fab (Sketchfab). Free CC-licensed models can still be downloaded.
  • Godot Asset Store: It’s live, but paid sales haven’t launched yet. (Godot).

The Verdict

  • Unreal or multi-engine teams: Fab
  • Unity teams: Unity Asset Store together with Synty
  • Low budget and prototyping: Kenney and itch.io
  • Godot developers: Fab’s Godot integration and Kenney

Before you buy, check: the license type (per seat, per entity, or a revenue cap?), engine version compatibility, the number of reviews, and the sale calendar.
