 PlayMaker 2

## PlayMaker 2

Unity Developer Tools Editor Tools Gameplay Systems

  ENGINE ** Unity **

  PRICE ** $ 65.00 **

SUPPORTED ENGINE VERSIONS

 Unity 2022.3 LTS Unity 6 (6000.0) Unity 6 (6000.4) Unity 6 (6000.5)

  ✓ BEST FOR

Unity designers, technical artists and solo developers on 2022.3 or Unity 6 who
want to build gameplay logic, interactions and AI states visually, and who are comfortable
adopting a major new version of an established toolkit.

  ! NOT FOR

Teams migrating existing PlayMaker 1 projects without a migration plan, projects
requiring mature production-ready built-in multiplayer networking, and projects
using Unity versions earlier than 2022.3 LTS. PlayMaker 2 is not backward-compatible
with PlayMaker 1, and the publisher's networking documentation describes the networking
features as alpha. Confirm target-platform support with the publisher before relying
on it for a production release.

 GameAssetly Verdict

PlayMaker 2 is the next generation of one of the longest-running visual scripting
tools for Unity, and it goes straight at the usual weakness of state machine graphs:
they get hard to manage as a project grows. Sub-states, parallel regions, several
editors open at once and better visual debugging are all aimed at that problem.
It suits designers, technical artists and small teams who want to build gameplay
logic, interactions and AI states without writing every behaviour in C#. The main
caution is timing. The build listed on the Asset Store at the time of writing is
a beta (2.0.0-beta.88), so expect changes and read the publisher's release notes
before tying a production deadline to it. At $65 per seat it is a fair entry point
if you already like state machines, and it is worth comparing with Unity's built-
in Visual Scripting package before you buy.
